The one lululemon item Amotti can’t live without (and it’s not the headband)

We assumed it would be that iconic headband. Turns out, Amotti’s lululemon must-have is something else entirely

With Physical: Asia blowing up over the past few months, it’s no surprise that fans are still just as obsessed, not only with the show but with contestants like Kim Jae-hong, better known as Amotti.

While the star first popped up in Singapore last November for HYROX, he made a return to our sunny island on 23 January, this time to host a session for fans at lululemon Training Ground.

As one of lululemon’s brand ambassadors, Amotti has been busy on the brand front too. Most recently, he was featured alongside Formula 1 driver and seven-time world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton in lululemon’s latest Train campaign, where both were seen wearing the brand’s License to Train (LTT) shorts. Coincidentally, it was also what Amotti showed up in on the day of the event, so yes, we were already paying attention.

Naturally, we had to ask: What’s the one lululemon item he can’t live without?

The headband that started it all

If you’ve been following Amotti’s rise, you’ve probably noticed one thing: the Metal Vent Tech headband.

He’s worn it everywhere, from training sessions to Physical: Asia and Muscle Farmers. He even posted a photo of himself stocking up on more at a lululemon store, which honestly only fuelled the obsession even more.

And once he started gaining popularity, fans did what fans do best. They followed suit. The headband quickly became an unofficial Amotti signature, something people bought in hopes of training (and maybe looking) a little more like him.

We were curious too. So yes, we caved and bought one.

Our honest take on the headband

In our opinion, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.

For one, it’s unisex and incredibly versatile, whether you’re lifting, running, or heading out for errands after a workout. The fabric is also classic lululemon: lightweight, sweat wicking, and quick drying, which makes a big difference once you’re mid session and drenched.

What we love most is how comfortable it feels. It doesn’t clamp down too tightly, sits nicely on the forehead, and gives just enough coverage (great for those with bigger foreheads, if you ask us).

So yes, we assumed Amotti would tell us the headband was his must-have.

But we were wrong.

The lululemon piece Amotti actually loves most

During the event, we got to catch up with Amotti, and of course we asked him what he’s currently loving from lululemon.

To our surprise, it wasn’t the headband. Instead, he pointed to what he was already wearing: the License to Train shorts.

“So for me, my favourite lululemon piece is this (pair) of shorts. LTT, License to Train, because it’s really comfortable. Especially when I do workouts I have to carry dumbbells, it’s really durable and sweat absorbent, and it’s so comfortable.”

Honestly? It checks out. Even mid interview, he was stretching like it was nothing. Later during the session, he was running around the room coaching participants, and never once did he look uncomfortable.

If anything, he made the rest of us look underdressed.

What Amotti is training for next

Beyond lululemon favourites, Amotti also shared what he’s currently working towards: HYROX Osaka.

He hinted that he’s aiming to do even better than he did in Singapore. Yes, he’s going for the top spot. He may also be training with his previous partner, fellow Physical: Asia contestant Choi Seung-yeon, who recently achieved second place in the Mixed Doubles Open (25 to 29 age category) with a time of 59:09.

Safe to say, if you thought he was intense now, we’re a little scared to see what “Osaka ready” looks like.

The next sport he wants to try? Rock climbing

And since his popularity has been riding high following his appearance in Physical: Welcome to Mongolia, where he tried everything from outdoor challenges to Bökh (traditional Mongolian wrestling), we also asked what he’d like to explore next.

His answer: rock climbing.

We didn’t see that coming, but we’re also kind of obsessed with the idea. There’s something satisfying about watching someone who’s already so athletic try something completely new, and slightly out of their comfort zone.

Now the real question is: when is the rock climbing content dropping?
