Five key elements that shone at Paris Fashion Week S/S ’20
Paris is the fourth and final destination of fashion week, and we dare say that PFW had the most dramatic highlights compared to the other three. ICYMI, here are the main takeaways from the event that happened in the City of Light

1. The remarkable rooftop runway at Chanel, plus a catwalk crasher

Held at the iconic Grand Palais, Chanel’s show saw the brand revisiting its French roots with a set that’s reminiscent of the iconic rooftops of Paris.
“The roofs of Paris remind me of the atmosphere of (French film movement) La Nouvelle Vague,” says artistic director Virginie Viard. “I saw silhouettes walking on the roofs. I thought about Kristen Stewart playing Jean Seberg, and all the actresses Gabrielle Chanel dressed at that time.”
However, that’s not all to the show. A female spectator dressed in a tweed skirt suit (later identified as comedian Marie Benoliel aka Marie S’Infiltre) crashed the catwalk during the finale. Model Gigi Hadid didn’t take the matter lightly: She ushered the crasher off the set with a stern look on her face.
2. The sensational set at Saint Laurent

The brand has always demonstrated an affinity for the Eiffel Tower: Anthony Vaccarello has been incorporating the iconic landmark into his shows since S/S ’18. At S/S ’20, the 37-year old creative director wowed the crowd with a set that had pillars of white light illuminating the front of the metal tower. And if you thought that was the pinnacle, wait till you see the sparkly sequinned Le Smoking suits that closed the show.
3. The K-pop celeb appearance at Celine that had its own hashtag

It’s no surprise that Blackpink’s Lisa would attend the Celine show – after all, she’s been a regular at the French maison’s events since Sept 2018. Just a few minutes after the show commenced, #LALISAxCelinePFW became one of the top trending hashtags on Twitter. Talk about the power of Hallyu.
4. The dramatic earrings at Mugler

Here’s why we’re obsessed with these earrings from Mugler’s S’S ’20: They remind us of Ariana Grande’s long and luscious ponytail. Yes, they’re OTT, but that’s ’cause they are supposed to make a statement.
5. The unconventional approach to beauty at Balenciaga

Demna Gvasalia has always approached fashion differently, particularly at Balenciaga, where he released a line of Ikea-inspired totes. This season, he turned his eye on the world of beauty, sending models with unconventional facial features (we believe that prosthetics were involved) down the runway as a “play on beauty standards of today”.
