1. The model’s protest at Gucci

Notably the most debatable incident at MFW, the protest by model and artist Ayesha Tan-Jones at Gucci’s S/S ’20 show caught many by surprise. Dressed in a white straitjacket-like ensemble, she flashed the message “Mental health is not fashion” – written on both her palms – at the start of the show while moving down a travelator.
It was not part of the show’s initial plans.
Gucci responded with a statement on its Instagram account, saying that the opening of the show was a visual representation of the restriction of self-expression that society has imposed on individuals. The Italian brand also expressed its wishes to be a beacon of hope for this.
“Uniforms, utilitarian clothes, normative dress, including straitjackets, were included in the #GucciSS20 fashion show as the most extreme version of a uniform dictated by society and those who control it. This power prescribes social norms, classifying and curbing identity,” it read. “The creative director’s antidote is seen in the Gucci Spring/Summer 2020 line-up of 89 looks. He has designed a collection that conveys fashion as a way to allow people to walk through fields of possibilities, cultivate beauty, make diversity sacrosanct, and celebrate the self in expression and identity.”

Announced at the Palazzo Isimbardi, Furla’s Furla 1927 collection had a “see-now-buy-now” concept. In other words, it’s already been available in its Marina Bay Sands, Paragon and Jewel Changi Airport stores since Sept 19.
The collection includes tri-fold wallets and cross-body bags in various sizes and colours.
3. Jennifer Lopez and her iconic green Versace dress

Remember that green dress Jennifer Lopez wore to the Grammy Awards in 2000? Donatella Versace created a similar look for S/S ’20 and sent the 50-year-old down the runway in it.
Gimmicky or genius marketing technique? We think it’s the latter.
4. Bottega Veneta’s Pouch bag 3.0

Introduced in S/S ’19, the Pouch bag has become a piece coveted by many fashion insiders. F/W ’19 saw the debut of the Sponge Pouch, a maximalist edition that’s crafted from hand-stitching individual strands of nappa leather together.
For S/S ’20, it’s fashioned with heavy-duty chains, which we believe will be a hot favourite too.
5. Moschino’s campy looks

Pablo Picasso’s artworks are the #inspo for Jeremy Scott’s Moschino this season. From an OTT framed ensemble (pictured above) to Kaia Gerber’s guitar dress, this collection pays tribute to some of the late artist’s renowned works, such as Girl Before a Mirror (1932).
