Popularised by famous faces like Hollywood actors Sydney Sweeney and Anya Taylor-Joy, the coquette aesthetic is soft, flirty and unabashedly feminine – think pastel hues, dewy finishes and rosy, flushed cheeks. Here are a few ways you can incorporate the mood-boosting trend into your makeup and manicure.
A smattering of rhinestones around the eye area illuminates the peepers and even highlights the eyebrow arches. For a striking look, pair the crystal embellishments with glitter eyeshadow.
What’s not to love about this pretty-in-pink manicure? The circle gradient “aura” design is gorgeous on its own. But ribbons amp up the glam factor.
Never underestimate the difference that a well-placed highlighter can make. When applied to the tip of your nose, it can create the illusion of a smaller, sharper nose and enhance the dewiness of your base makeup.
Ease into the pastel eye makeup trend with a diffused, smokey look. The blended nature of this technique is more forgiving especially if you’re new to wearing colours on your eyes. Focus the colour on your lash line and blend it outwards and upwards, going past your crease to create a subtle, ombre effect.
Highlighted "everything" – including the forehead, eyelids, chin and cheeks – dominated our social media feeds in 2023, and the trend will continue to be a popular makeup style in the year ahead. Hydrating and glow-giving serums and creams are essential for achieving a mirror-like, reflective complexion. Take things up a notch by brushing on shimmery pink eyeshadow on the high points of the cheeks and over the chin and forehead.
Add a hint of colour to your eyes with a pastel under-liner (on the lower lash line). The eyeliner can be as bold or as understated as you like. Team the slick of blue eyeliner with faux bleached eyebrows. To fake blonde arches, run some concealer through your brows with a spoolie before setting it with powder. The contrast between the lightened eyebrows and peepers helps add visual interest to the look.
It's no secret that glazed nails are everywhere these days. Pair yours with gemstones and a high-shine top coat.
