The seasoned competitive runner, whose next race will see her at the Great Eastern Women's Run 2023 happening on 29 October at the Singapore Sports Hub, also has some valuable insights into specific training and recovery techniques that have been integral to her journey in maintaining peak performance and overall well-being as a runner.

"As an experienced runner, I've discovered the significance of incorporating specific training and recovery techniques into my routine for maintaining performance and overall well-being. These effective techniques include regular strength training to enhance efficiency and reduce injury risks, periodisation training to avoid burnout and optimise performance, cross-training for variety and injury prevention, flexibility and mobility exercises to maintain muscle flexibility, and a well-balanced diet with proper hydration," she says.

"Scheduled rest and recovery days, along with tools like compression garments and massage guns, help in recovery. Quality sleep is a non-negotiable aspect, and during longer runs, I prioritise hydration and nutrition. Mental training strategies, such as visualisation and positive self-talk, are equally crucial for overcoming challenges during races and training."
