These hair trends will be huge in 2024
Six standout styles that are shaping up to some of the biggest hair trends of the year

Making the case for second-day hair, the Spring/Summer 2024 runways and red carpets were filled with artfully sculpted, product-laden styles. From intentionally tousled strands to architecture updos, here are six hairstyles you’ll be spotting everywhere this season.
Seen on the likes of Gen-Z "it" girls like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, this spiky hairstyle draws inspiration from the ‘90s. The "cool girl" trend entails swirling your strands into a bun, leaving the ends sticking out before securing your updo with bobby pins. Run the hair ends through a flat iron for that poker-straight finish.
To ride on the bodacious mermaid waves trend, create curls with a wave wand before adding grit to your mane with sea salt spray . Alternatively, you could also achieve this voluminous 'do sans heat by braiding your hair the night before.
Paying homage to the opulence and sophistication of the roaring 20s, finger waves have made a triumphant comeback on the runways. To recreate, prep your strands with a strong-hold texturising spray and gel before shaping to your liking with your fingers or the end of a rat tail comb. Keep your waves in place with styling pins and remove them only when your gel has set.
Silky-smooth, waist-grazing strands are in – especially when paired with Hime (or princess cut in Japanese) bangs (blunt cheek-length fringe that’s typically parted in the middle). While there are multiple ways to style this of-the-moment cut, it is often worn straight to frame the face.
If the red carpets are any indication, the hyper-feminine “balletcore” aesthetic that made beauty waves in 2023 will continue to shine this year. To amp up the drama, twist your hair into the shape of a dramatic ribbon.
The wet-hair look is a perennial favourite. To elevate the runway staple, create a subtle bend with the front section of your hair and finish off with hairspray. For that high-shine finish, go over your tresses with a boar-bristle brush.
