Qi Yuwu says he has a “good eye” for picking Joanne Peh as they make their live-selling debut as a couple

Guangzhou-born, Singapore-based actor Qi Yuwu, 49, has recently made his debut as a live seller, following in the footsteps of his wife, actress Joanne Peh, 43, who has also entered the live-commerce scene. Marking another milestone, the power couple came together on Tuesday, 11 August, to host a livestream selling beauty products.

The session extended into the wee hours of the morning, with the couple switching between English and Mandarin as they entertained close to 1,000 viewers. They also shared insights into each other’s beauty routines and preferences, giving viewers a glimpse of their easy chemistry and playful banter. The couple, who tied the knot in 2014 and share two children, aged 11 and nine, kept the mood light throughout.

At one point, when a viewer complimented Joanne on her good looks and said the couple looked good together, Qi Yuwu coyly replied that he has a “good eye”.

Another amusing moment came when Qi Yuwu jokingly emphasised the importance of maintaining skin elasticity to prevent wrinkles, using veteran actor Zhu Houren as an example. Joanne quickly tried to salvage the situation, quipping that they could joke like that only because they were close. Qi Yuwu, however, cheekily responded: “Actually, we’re not.”

The couple also had viewers laughing when a netizen likened their compatibility to Fann Wong and Christopher Lee’s iconic characters Xiao Long Nu and Yang Guo from The Return of the Condor Heroes. Joanne kept insisting that the characters were played by Fann and Christopher, before suggesting that she and Qi Yuwu should instead be known as the “C.L.I.F couple” — a nod to the popular police procedural series C.L.I.F., in which they both starred. Qi Yuwu, however, quickly pointed out that “no one uses the show name to describe compatibility”, sending the couple into another round of laughter.
