“Let Me Take Your Pulse” star Sisley Choi radiates confidence, but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have her own share of insecurities and self-doubt.
In a group interview with the local media, the TVB actress and Miss Hong Kong alumna spoke candidly about her “concerns” about her thighs – a part of her body that she feels insecure about.
“I have concerns about my thigh area. And no matter how people say: ‘No lah, you’re so skinny,’ when I look into the mirror, I pick out the small flaws that I see in myself. We’re all like that”
In recent times, the 33-year-old who was recently in town to celebrate her new appointment as beauty gym BMF The Aesthetics People’s brand ambassador, has managed to boost her confidence due in large part to her lifestyle choices: taking time out for self-care through journaling, working out at the gym and getting regular Cristal Pro Sculpt System body shaping treatments at BFM.
Despite her candour, Sisley, who has been in the spotlight for over a decade is well aware that hate comments from naysayers will continue to filter in.
“In general, society is very harsh on women. You’re always either too skinny or too fat. Too tall or too short. Too white or too dark. It’s always ‘too’ something. When you hear criticism like that, it makes you doubt yourself,” she said.
“There was a long time where I didn’t like myself,” she continued in the interview.
Still, she makes it a point to embrace her imperfections and be kind to herself, and urges others to do the same.
“As cliche as it sounds, we’re all unique in our own ways. Sometimes I would catch myself and think, ‘why are you so hard on yourself?’ I think (as a society) we should show more mercy and have more love for one another,” she advises.
