You know that signature Joan Jett do? Well, that gender-fluid rocker-inspired hairstyle is making its rounds again on TikTok, seen on the fashion runways and spotted on celebs like Billie Eilish, Debby Ryan and Miley Cyrus.

In short, it’s officially cool again. Just consider how the hashtag #wolfcut has garnered over 642 million views on TikTok and more than 25,000 mentions on Instagram.

Though it may resemble a mullet or shag hairstyle, the wolf cut incorporates choppy layers which mimic the wild mane of the hairstyle’s namesake animal.

In an interview with Oprah Daily, hairstylist Brittany Johnson from wig, weave, and extensions company Mayvenn shared how the wolf cut is best suited for those with thicker hair with waves or curls. She said: “Straight hair will likely require a bit more styling time to create movement or volume at home.”

Ahead we share some hair inspiration seen on the runways and seasonal fashion look books to reference if you’re set on rocking this hairstyle.
