If it were up to Gen-Z crowd and the TikTok generation to dictate how you should style your hair, it is time to wave goodbye to the side part and opt for the middle part instead. And make sure you get a bob while at that.

Designers and models are getting the memo. This short do was spotted at the recent Chanel Spring/Summer 2021 Haute Couture show and appeared in many brand lookbooks this season.

One can say that the severe bob played the supporting role to Rosamund Pike’s award-winning role in Netflix’s I Care A Lot where she plays a ruthless and cunning anti-heroine. Face-flattering and utterly stylish, the ‘flob’ or flat bob as we like to call this hairstyle, has also been spotted on local style stars like actress and host Amanda Chaang.

“Though the bob hairstyle’s been popular for the last decade, I believe there are a few reasons why there’s a resurgence of this new cut,” says hairstylist Junz Loke, who notes that the style looks especially chic with dark straight hair.

“It’s low maintenance, doesn’t require much styling, accentuates the bone structure and if you feel like switching things up, it looks just as great with a deep side part too.”
