Ok, we gotta admit that British designer Erdem Moralioglu’s inspiration for SS ’20 wasn’t the 17-year-old Swede and Time’s 2019 Person of the Year, Greta Thunberg; it was the late Italian actress/photographer Tina Modotti, whom he describes as “a revolutionary, a woman of principle”.

He could have been talking about Thunberg, who is as well known for her signature plait (single or double) as her cause. For how to create Erdem’s version (because we don’t need any for Thunberg’s), check out below.

1. Dyson Supersonic hairdryer, $599, and Dyson Styling Concentrator, $49

The latter is designed to create poker-straight hair.

2. L’Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil, $29

A multitasker, it can be used as a hair detangler after shampooing, or as a radiance enhancer before or after blow-drying.

3. Mango pleated scarf, $39.90

3/7

4. Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Blow Dry Spray, $32

4/7

The volumiser creates the illusion of thicker hair.

5. Vernon Francois Scalp Nourish~Ment Braids and Locs Spray, $30

It cuts heat-styling time in half for unruly hair.

7. L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni Art Pli Spray Thermo Modelant, $36

7/7

Ideal for our humidity, this heat-activated spray is a styling primer to add body or to discipline a look.
