Star Awards 2026: What to know about this year’s nominees

Star Awards season is almost here, and anticipation is building as Mediacorp’s biggest night returns on April 19, 2026. With nominations for the popularity awards now officially unveiled, fans can start casting their votes for their favourite stars ahead of the highly anticipated ceremony.

Similar like last year, a total of 165 nominees are in the running across three key popularity categories. Of these, 118 artistes are competing for the coveted Top 10 Most Popular Male and Female Artiste awards, while 47 are vying for the Most Popular Rising Stars title.

The categories continue to spotlight talents at different stages of their careers. The Top 10 awards are open to artistes with more than five years of experience, while the Most Popular Rising Stars category recognises those who have been in the industry for five years or less.

That being said, the nomination criteria remain unchanged. Artistes qualify by leading or hosting at least two episodes, or by appearing in 13 episodes across Mediacorp programmes or specials in any role. Additionally, nominees for Performance Awards are automatically eligible for the popularity categories.

One of the biggest shifts this year comes with Carrie Wong and Romeo Tan going up the ranks of All-Time Favourite Artistes. Having each secured 10 Most Popular trophies, the duo’s advancement has freed up spots in both the male and female Top 10 categories, paving the way for new contenders to emerge.

Meanwhile, voting for the Top 10 Most Popular Male and Female Artistes, as well as the Most Popular Rising Stars, is now open. Fans have until April 19 to cast their votes and rally behind their favourite nominees.

Adding to the excitement is a suite of additional awards that celebrate the year’s most memorable on-screen moments. These include four MY PICK! Awards — Favourite CP, The Show Stealer, Most Emotional Performance and The Most Hated Villain — alongside several partner-sponsored categories.

As stars gear up to be crowned, fans also stand a chance to walk away with a prize of their own. This year, the BYD giveaway returns for the second consecutive year, with voters in the BYD Favourite Character categories automatically entered into an electronic draw to win a brand new BYD Sealion 6 DM-i.

With voting underway and fresh faces entering the race, all eyes are now on who will clinch the coveted spots, and which names will rise to the top at this year’s Star Awards. For the full list of nominees across all categories, keep scrolling:
