Review: The new Samsung Smart Monitor M8 is basically a personal TV, workstation and AI assistant in one
A monitor that genuinely makes life easier

If you’re anything like me, you probably spend most of your day glued to a screen, whether it’s for editing, streaming, writing, or simply multitasking your way through life. So when a device promises to make that experience smoother, smarter, and prettier, I’m all ears. So when I heard about Samsung’s latest Smart Monitor M8 (M80F model), I was thrilled to try out the new monitor.
While it shares similar features to its predecessor, the new model isn’t just an upgrade in specs, but it’s a screen that genuinely feels more intuitive. With built-in AI tools, a vibrant 32-inch 4K display, and seamless productivity features, it’s designed to keep up with everything you do (and love to do). Here’s how it fit into my daily routine and why I’ve been reaching for my laptop less and my remote more.
Design and display
When I first unboxed the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 (M80F), my first reaction was: This thing is huge. At 32 inches, it instantly became the star of my desk. The screen resolution is still a crisp 4K UHD like the previous version, but the colours feel extra vibrant, especially when I mirror videos or edit in Premiere Pro. If you do any sort of video work, the sharpness and detail definitely help.
What I also love is the look. It has a clean, creamy finish that actually adds to my desk setup instead of looking tech-y or clunky. That said, I did have to shuffle things around to make space. If your desk is small, this is something to consider.
AI Features
One of the standout new features is Click to Search, which uses AI to help you learn more about what you’re seeing on screen. For example, if you’re watching a show and spot a familiar actor, you can “click” and get details like their name, filmography, and related info without reaching for your phone. It’s a fun, smart bonus that makes the monitor feel more interactive.
Even though I don’t use it all the time, when I do, it feels like a helpful layer added to my viewing experience. It’s not just a monitor, but I see it more as a mini content assistant.
Tizen OS
The built-in Tizen OS Home interface felt super smooth and intuitive from the start. I love how it shows personalised recommendations based on what I’ve been watching. So my go-to apps like YouTube and Netflix are just there, waiting for me. No endless scrolling required.
I also really appreciate how easy it is to cast shows from my phone when I’m on the same Wi-Fi network. It’s quick, seamless, and honestly more convenient than my actual TV.
Productivity features
One feature I found myself using a lot is the Multi View. It lets you split the screen to work and play at the same time. For instance, watching YouTube while writing articles. It really suits the way we use screens now, where you’re always toggling between tabs, docs, and entertainment.
Setup and performance
I was really impressed with how fast it took me to set up the monitor when I first received it. In fact, it took under five minutes, and the detachable camera clicks on magnetically, which was oddly satisfying. Everything about the user interface was fast—no lag, no bugs, no weird delays. As a matter of fact, I actually preferred watching my shows on the monitor over my TV because it felt quicker and smoother.
SmartThings and future potential
While I didn’t use the SmartThings integration (no smart home appliances yet!), I like knowing it’s there. This monitor isn’t just about what it can do now—it’s also built for what your setup might look like in a few years. Plus, the fact that Samsung is offering seven years of software updates means you won’t need to upgrade anytime soon.
Final verdict
What surprised me most about the Smart Monitor M8 (M80F) is how well everything worked together—whether it was switching between work and play, discovering something new with AI, or just streaming a show without lag. It’s practical, powerful and honestly really pretty.
I’d recommend it to anyone in the creative field, especially if you’re editing videos, writing, or doing anything that benefits from a bigger, sharper screen. It’s also great for multitaskers who love having a show on while replying to emails or jumping between documents.
The 32” Samsung Monitor M8 (M80F model) retails for $1,188 and is now available at the Samsung Online Store, the Samsung Official Store on Lazada and Shopee, as well as major consumer electronics and IT retailers.
