Tech geek or not, you’ve probably noticed how the big players in tech love a good annual upgrade—and Samsung is no different. The brand typically hosts two Galaxy Unpacked events each year: the first sees the latest Galaxy S flagship phones take centre stage while the second, usually held in the second half of the year, shines a spotlight on the new Galaxy Z series foldables and smartwatches.

But most recently, it was the latter that got its moment.

Unveiled earlier this week, Samsung introduced its most advanced Galaxy Z series yet, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, alongside the latest generation of wearables: the Galaxy Watch8 Series. From sleeker designs to smarter, in-built features, these upgrades are designed to elevate the everyday, whether you’re working, working out, or somewhere in between.

The devices will hit stores on 1 August 2025. Ahead, we break down the key features to know before you upgrade.

Lo and behold: the sleekest, lightest, and thinnest device in the Galaxy Z Fold series to date. The Galaxy Z Fold7 delivers the premium performance and experience of an “Ultra” smartphone, while unlocking new levels of efficiency and productivity with its larger, more immersive display when unfolded. It features an upgraded 200MP camera (yes, 200!) so you can snap crystal-clear shots for the ’Gram, plus a bigger screen that let you do more—think photo editing side-by-side, or opening multiple windows at once, perfect for multitaskers on the move.

When it comes to using foldable phones, many have cited issues with the creasing of the screen when it’s unfolded. However, users won’t have to worry about that as the Galaxy Z Fold7 now comes with an Armor FlexHinge, which is supposedly thinner and lighter, with a multi-rail structure that reduces visible creasing.

Other notable features include the Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, which is specially customised to deliver faster, smoother navigation and AI-powered features like real-time language translation and Generative Edit.

The phone comes in four colours: Blue Shadow (our favourite), Silver Shadow, Jet Black, and an online-exclusive Mint.

Prices: 16GB+1TB | $3,328 (Blue Shadow, Jetblack, Silver Shadow)
12GB+512GB | $2,878 (Blue Shadow, Jetblack, Silver Shadow)
12GB+256GB | $2,698 (Online Exclusive: Mint)

On the flipside, if you’re looking for something a little more compact, consider the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7. In this new and improved device, you can not only expect a compact silhouette, but also Samsung’s latest edge-to-edge FlexWindow and a sharper camera.

First things first: the all-new 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow is the largest cover screen ever on a Galaxy Z Flip. That means it’s easier than ever to fire off quick replies, check your schedule at a glance, or snap high-definition selfies that are sure to turn heads. It’s also one of the brightest screens yet, so everything looks vivid and sharp—even under direct sunlight.

Its compact design, on the other hand, makes it a breeze to carry around, easily fitting in the palm of your hand. Weighing just 188 grams and measuring only 13.7mm when folded, it’s one of the slimmest Galaxy Z Flip models to date. However, the great thing about it is that, despite its size, this new device boasts an amazing battery life of up to 31 hours of video play time on a single charge, so you won’t have to worry about it running out of battery midway through the day when it’s fully charged.

Beyond that, the phone is powered by a robust processor that lets you switch between apps seamlessly. It also comes equipped with Samsung DeX, allowing you to connect to a larger screen and access PC-like tools for enhanced multitasking, great for getting things done on the go.

A standout feature is the integration of AI tools like Gemini Live 13, now available directly on the FlexWindow. You can search for anything that’s on your mind without needing to type—it’s as intuitive as it gets.

One of our favourite features? Camera sharing on Gemini Live. You can share your screen in real time and ask for help with things like picking an outfit, and Gemini responds like a helpful friend. It’s practical, personal, and surprisingly fun to use.

The phone comes in four colours: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red and an online-exclusive Mint.

Prices: 12GB+512GB | $1,828 (Blue Shadow, Coralred, Jetblack)
12GB+256GB | $1,648 (Online Exclusive: Mint)

Galaxy Flip7 FE

If you’re eyeing a foldable but don’t want to splurge, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE might just be the one for you. It’s a more affordable version of the Flip7, with many of the same features, though there are a few trade-offs. For starters, the FE comes with 8GB of RAM (compared to 12GB on the Flip7), and a smaller 3.4-inch outer display that isn’t quite as sharp or bright.

That said, the main screen is still impressive—a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X with the same adaptive refresh rate and peak brightness as the Flip7. Battery-wise, the FE packs a 4,000mAh battery (slightly smaller than the Flip7’s 4,300mAh), which should still get you through the day with ease.

The Galaxy Flip 7 FE is available in two colours: Black and White.

Prices: 8GB+256GB | $1,438 (Black, White)
8GB+128GB | $1,348 (Black, White)

Galaxy Watch 8

With more of us prioritising health and wellness these days, it’s important to keep tabs on our daily habits, and that’s where a tracker like the Galaxy Watch8 comes in handy. More than just telling the time, Samsung’s latest smartwatch is one of its slimmest yet, designed to sit comfortably on your wrist whether you’re powering through the day or winding down for bed. The display is now 50% brighter too, so you won’t have trouble checking it even under harsh sunlight.

On the wellness front, it goes beyond the basics. The watch offers sleep apnea detection and tracks key lifestyle metrics like sleep quality, stress levels, and daily activity, giving you a more complete picture of your health.

Bonus: this watch is also the first Galaxy Watch to be powered by Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, and runs on Wear OS 6. That means you can go fully hands-free, using natural voice commands to manage your day. You can ask Gemini to find a nearby café and text a friend to meet you there in one go, or simply say, “Start a 30-minute run,” to track your daily runs.

The Galaxy Watch8 is available in two colours: Silver and Graphite

Prices: 40mm, Bluetooth | $498
40mm, Bluetooth + LTE | $598
44mm, Bluetooth | $548
44mm, Bluetooth + LTE | $648
