The queen of #RichTok has logged off for love. But not before giving us a wedding that broke the algorithm

Through carefully curated videos featuring haute jewelry unboxings, bridal fittings, and anniversary gifting, TikTok creator Becca Bloom invited her audience into the lead-up to what would become one of the most talked-about weddings of the year. On August 28, the fairytale ceremony took place at Villa Balbiano, a historic estate along Italy’s Lake Como.
First things first. Who is Becca Bloom?
Becca, whose real name is Rebecca Ma, was born and raised in Atherton, California, one of the wealthiest communities in the United States. Her parents, Simon Yiming Ma and Heidi Chou, are tech entrepreneurs known for founding Camelot Information Systems, a software and real estate company that once boasted a valuation in the hundreds of millions. She attended the University of Southern California, where she studied business economics, and minored in law. She co-founded peer-to-peer studying platform, StudyPal before she sold it and went on to found Hearth Wireless Chargers.
Becca’s ascent into digital celebrity came in early 2025, when she joined TikTok under the handle @BeccaxBloom. With over 4.2 million followers on TikTok and over 2 million followers on Instagram today, Becca has been dubbed the “queen of #RichTok” for her videos that blend high luxury with a relatable, conversational tone.
Her signature posts range from private chef-prepared meals for her cat Oscar to luxury jewellery unboxings featuring the likes of Van Cleef & Arpels, Bvlgari, Spinelli Kilcollin, Cartier, and Tiffany & Co. Still, it is her finance tutorials, often framed through witty Gen Z metaphors, that have truly set her apart. In one viral example, she compares stock buybacks to “a girl who takes down thirst traps on Instagram to make the remaining ones hit harder.”
Whether explaining trade deficits or highlighting the importance of negotiation skills, her content consistently promotes career confidence, especially for women navigating male-dominated fields such as STEM and finance.
From tea date to fairytale wedding
About her love life: Becca met Canadian software engineer and then husband-to-be, David, in December 2019 at a Philz Coffee in Palo Alto. She was home from college, while he had recently relocated from Vancouver. It began as a brief and awkward exchange (Becca reportedly told him that she only drinks tea when he offered to get her coffee) before unfolding into a 15-hour first date that included a walk through her childhood neighbourhood and dinner at a sushi restaurant.
According to Vogue, the couple got engaged on July 23, 2023, in Positano. David Pownall arranged a private sunset boat ride under the pretense of an “Instagram photoshoot,” where he proposed while Becca wore a feathered hot-pink cover-up over an orange Burberry bikini during the couple’s summer vacation.
In the months that followed, Becca continued building her brand as the face of #RichTok, documenting her life with polished restraint and preparing, in characteristically meticulous fashion, for what would become the most anticipated event of her life.
Wedding details to know
Below is a breakdown of the major highlights from their wedding weekend, as confirmed by various outlets including Vogue, Page Six, E! News, and Becca’s own social media posts.
The beginning of forever
The couple exchanged vows on August 28, 2025, at Villa Balbiano, a 17th-century palazzo set along the western shores of Lake Como, Italy. Becca told Vogue that they chose Villa Balbiano because she had always dreamed of an outdoor ceremony in Italy, describing it as the couple’s “second home”. With its manicured gardens, baroque interiors, and panoramic views of the lake, the villa offered a setting as intimate as it was grand, perfectly suited to the tone of their fairytale celebration.
It was also reported that a fortune teller recommended the wedding date as it was “the luckiest day”, with Becca expressing that she felt that the universe was gently aligning the occasion in their favour.
In the presence of love
The ceremony was attended by approximately 60 guests, a decision the couple made in keeping with their introverted personalities and desire for a more personal celebration. Vogue reports that the couple chose intimacy over spectacle, gathering only close friends and family for the celebration.
Bridal wardrobe
Becca’s bridal wardrobe was a curated study in symbolism, craftsmanship, and personal storytelling. For the ceremony, she wore a custom Oscar de la Renta ballgown embroidered with laser-cut peonies – a tribute to her Chinese heritage and a nod to the flower that filled the gardens of her childhood home. The gown was paired with white Chanel heels, purchased during a trip to Paris with her mother, and high jewelry from Van Cleef & Arpels’ Folie des Prés collection, including a necklace, earrings, and matching ring. Her engagement ring was accompanied by a Tiffany Victoria wedding band, chosen for its sentimental value as it was the first fine jewelry line she received as a young girl.
Other ensembles from the weekend reflected a similar blend of nostalgia and refinement. On her arrival in Lake Como, Becca wore an Oscar de la Renta mini dress adorned with a single oversized flower, while the rehearsal dinner featured a vintage Chanel couture dress from the 2003 cruise collection, printed with a multi-coloured ice cream motif – a playful reference to her earliest dates with David.
For the reception, she changed into an Oscar de la Renta “shattered glass” rose gown from the Spring 2025 runway, its mirrored shards and blush tones inspiring the evening’s décor. She completed the look with Christian Louboutin ballet heels in soft blush, a quiet homage to her childhood spent in ballet studios.
Blooming beauty
In contrast to the highly regimented routines often associated with modern bridal beauty, Becca described herself as a “type B bride” to Vogue’s beauty section, opting for a low-maintenance approach in the weeks leading up to the ceremony.
She forwent professional facials and laser treatments, instead relying on a personal regimen anchored by Lancôme’s Advanced Génifique Serum, Skinbetter Science, and LED light therapy masks from Currentbody – products she had gradually incorporated during the pandemic.
According to Vogue, Becca’s mother played an active role in shaping some of these choices, even advising against a drastic haircut just days before the wedding.
On the day itself, Becca’s bridal look was deliberately understated. Her makeup was done by Italian celebrity makeup artist, Daniele Lorusso (famously known on social media as @mrdanielmakeup) using exclusively Lancôme products to achieve a soft, luminous finish with subtle sparkle, a pink lip, and curled lashes.
Her hair, styled by The Studio Como, was kept in vintage-inspired waves to accommodate a cathedral-length veil, balancing simplicity with a sense of timeless formality.
Weathering the storm
Despite forecasts predicting a full day of thunderstorms, the weather shifted at a pivotal moment. The skies cleared just before the ceremony began, allowing the couple to proceed with their outdoor vows at Villa Balbiano. According to E! News, the rain returned later in the evening at 10pm, just after the couple cut their wedding millefoglie.
What followed was one of the most visually memorable moments of the night: as silver wall fireworks erupted across the lawn, David lifted Becca into a spontaneous spin. Her gown, she later recalled, singed slightly at the hem, while his hair came close to catching fire. “It was wild and cinematic,” she told the publication.
Trust Becca to see meaning in the downpour. Growing up attuned to her family’s feng shui traditions, she took the rain as a sign of good fortune. “A wet knot is the hardest to untie,” she mused.
Highlight reels
The ceremony struck a careful balance between formality and emotional intimacy. The processional began with Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” for the couple’s parents, followed by “Can’t Help Falling in Love” as Becca walked down the aisle.
The vows, written by the bride and groom, offered a glimpse into the rhythms of their shared life: Becca spoke of apple pies, kite-flying, and late-night conversations about ideas and numbers, all quiet rituals that had come to define their bond.
David’s vows remained more private, but he concluded with a line that visibly moved those in attendance: a wish that hers be the last face he sees and the last hand he holds.
Full bellies and hearts
When the weather made an outdoor reception unfeasible, a glass marquee was quickly assembled on the villa grounds as a contingency. The resulting indoor setting proved no less elegant: the design featured ombre-hued roses, laser-cut menus mirroring the motifs of Becca’s evening gown, and blush-toned lighting that cast a soft, romantic glow across the space.
The couple made their entrance to the opening notes of “Fancy Like”, before making their first dance to Stephen Sanchez’s “Be More”. In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, they assembled an Italian millefoglie by hand – a layered pastry of cream and berries that served both as dessert and as a nod to their shared interest in baking.
Are the celebrations over yet?
While the Lake Como celebration reflected the couple’s preference for intimacy and modernity, it was never intended to be the final word. According to Page Six, Becca and David plan to host a larger, traditional Asian wedding at a later date, organised in collaboration with their families. Specific details have not yet been made public. But if Lake Como soirée was a seedling, then we’re certain that next celebration will be in full Bloom.
