There’s something really special about bringing women together at such a pivotal and personal stage of their lives. That’s exactly what we set out to do at Her World’s recent bridal event with RISIS. The event started out as an intimate afternoon session at the newly revamped Violet Oon restaurant at ION Orchard. We invited a group of Her World readers who are brides-to-be, many of whom brought along their loved ones for the afternoon.
Not only did guests indulge in some tea and light bites, but they also got to engage in heartfelt conversations with one another, sharing more about their wedding plans, personal stories, and what they were looking for in their dream si dian jin sets.
The reason? To celebrate the launch of RISIS’ first-ever bridal jewellery line, which reimagines the traditional si dian jin with a modern, design-forward touch for today’s discerning bride. As a brand that speaks to stylish, career-driven women, Her World was the perfect platform to host this meaningful conversation about honouring tradition while making it your own.
After a cosy tea session, guests headed to the RISIS boutique for a private styling experience led by our Senior Fashion Editor, Lena Kamarudin. It was touching to see women from all walks of life try on the stunning pieces, of which some even walked away with their dream sets.
But what stood out most was the versatility of the pieces. One crowd favourite? The Dual Orchid Bloom Long Slider Necklace in Gold & Palladium with Crystal Tailends, which Lena showed could be worn as a waist chain, a necklace, or even a choker.
Another crowd favourite from the new collection by RISIS was interestingly a piece from the NyonyaBelle set. While it may look simple and minimalist, many expressed how they really admire its timeless design that looks understated, elegant, and perfect for styling beyond the wedding.
With so many thoughtful details and beautifully crafted pieces on display, it was clear that si dian jin today is as much about personal expression as it is about tradition. During the styling session, Lena shared some practical yet stylish tips to help brides-to-be find a set that feels uniquely theirs. The Bridal Gown
“A white bridal gown calls for something soft and romantic,” Lena says, “which is why I paired it with pieces from RISIS NyonyaBelle collection. The pastel pink tones add just the right amount of femininity without overpowering the dress. It’s delicate, timeless, and complements the gown’s elegance perfectly,” she shared, “which is ideal for brides who love something subtle yet sentimental.”
The Bridal Kwa
“For the bridal kwa, I went all in with the RISIS Scarlett Veil collection set beautifully designed with Vanda Miss Joaquim floral motifs,” Lena says. “It’s bold, it’s gold, and it brings out the intricate details of the traditional wedding outfit. Not only does it look aesthetically pleasing, but it’s also a nod to Singapore’s national flower,” she shares.
Corporate Chic
This look is all about contrast. “I leaned into the RISIS Beaded Ascocenda collection as the malachite pieces give that extra pop against a neutral workwear palette,” Lena adds. This is perfect for those who prefer wearing grey, beige, or black outfits to the office or even for a night out. Whether you’re heading to a meeting or a formal event, the malachite adds personality without being too loud. And that versatile waist chain also works as a necklace and a brooch.
Weekend Brunch
For those looking for something a little more playful, the pieces from this set are worth considering. Whether you’re out for a casual brunch or a street-style-inspired day out, you can pair your si dian jin jewellery even with a more androgynous outfit like an oversized tee, or even a more relaxed fit. Lena shares, “It juxtaposes with the feminine slider necklace and adds an elegant layer without being too much. Just throw it over a plain tee and you’ve got a look that’s equal parts effortless and elevated.”
