“Welcome to the world, my son!” Desmond Tan gushes after welcoming second child with wife

Baby alert! Singapore’s golden boy Desmond Tan, chiselled charmer from When Duty Calls and a regular fixture on the Star Awards’ Top 10 list, is officially a father of two after welcoming his second child – a bouncing baby boy.

The 39-year-old actor sent fans and fellow celebs into full heart-eyes mode this morning when he broke the news on Instagram. “Now we are four!” he gushed, sharing a photo of himself cradling his newborn son in a slideshow carousel. Also in the mix: sweet snaps of handwritten welcome cards and an adorable tiny onesie that says “Lil Bro”. 

It didn’t take long for the comments section to light up, with stars like Zoe Tay, Zhang Ze Tong and Sheila Sim dropping in with congratulatory messages.

Desmond, who tied the knot with his university sweetheart in a storybook French chateau wedding back in 2021, has kept his family life mostly under wraps. It wasn’t until March 2024, nearly three years later, that he let fans in on his biggest plot twist yet: the arrival of their first child, a baby girl, as reported by The Straits Times.

Now, just over a year later, the couple have quietly expanded their brood once again, and are officially proud parents to one daughter and one son.

In a previous interview with AsiaOne, Desmond had shared his hopes of taking time off from filming his latest drama, The Leftovers, to be present for the birth. “I want to be there,” he said at the time, saying that the beautiful moment is not one he would want to miss.

The newest arrival isn’t the only major milestone he is celebrating in recent days. In August, he took to Instagram to reveal he had finally achieved one of his biggest personal dreams – buying a landed property.

The two-storey home, which he teased with a lawnside photo, is now the growing family’s new nest. “A lot of work ahead,” he wrote, “but I’m excited to transform this space into something truly special.”

With a brand-new baby, a beautiful home, and plenty of love to go around, it looks like Desmond’s next big role is unfolding right at home.
