Lululemon’s new Orchard store has a built-in wellness studio—here’s what to expect
The new retail concept now houses within, a beautifully designed yoga and Pilates studio by Betty Kong

At first glance, lululemon’s new retail concept store at Ngee Ann City might look like your typical sleek, city-centre retail store at Orchard. But step inside, and you’ll realise it’s much more than a place to shop for your next pair of lululemon leggings. As a matter of fact, this time, the brand has teamed up with within—a thoughtfully designed wellness studio founded by Betty Kong, a yoga teacher, founder of within studio and longtime friend of lululemon. The result? An immersive space that invites visitors to slow down, tune in, and reconnect with themselves, all while browsing some of the brand’s most iconic pieces.
“Guests come to within for mindful movement, and they stop by lululemon to find gear that not only performs, but also reflects their personal style and confidence,” says Betty. “It’s more than just shopping. It’s part of the wellness experience.”
This unique concept that blends movement, community and retail feels especially relevant in a post-pandemic Singapore. People are seeking deeper, more intentional ways to care for themselves and are genuinely curious and increasingly eager to explore more about wellness.
For instance, over the past decade, Betty has observed a meaningful shift in how people across Southeast Asia define wellness. “Ten years ago, wellness often meant going to the gym or doing a workout. Now, there’s a much deeper awareness of the importance of mindfulness, mental health, and intentional movement,” she explains.
From Storefront to Safe Space
Betty, who has spent over a decade in the wellness world, says the goal was always to create a space that feels grounded, calm, and most of all welcoming.
“We’re mindful about every detail—from how we greet guests to the language we use in class,” she explains. “We don’t assume anyone’s level of experience, and we make it clear that you don’t need to be flexible, fit, or experienced to belong here.”
Adding on to its charm, within also boasts an inviting space, with soft lighting, warm textures, and a layout that encourages flow and ease. Betty mentioned that it was specifically designed to “feel calm, grounded, and non-intimidating, with soft lighting, warm textures, and room to just breathe”.
The studio features a dedicated room for yoga as well as a Pilates reformer room that’s large enough to accommodate a class of eight.
The Rise of Intentional Wellness in Singapore
The partnership between within and lululemon is tapping into something bigger: a cultural shift in how people across Southeast Asia are approaching wellbeing.
“Ten years ago, wellness meant going to the gym. Now, there’s a deeper awareness of mental health, mindfulness, and movement that’s restorative rather than performative,” says Betty.
Practices like yoga, breathwork and reformer Pilates are no longer seen as niche or intimidating. Instead, they’re quickly gaining traction from the masses, and not just because of the aesthetics, but for the way they help people slow down, reset, and find a sense of balance in their everyday lives.
Finding Your Community
Aside from finding an activity that you can truly enjoy, the reason why many are drawn to spaces like this is essentially because of its community, which sits at the heart of what within and lululemon are building. “Wellness can be deeply personal, but it doesn’t have to be solitary,” says Betty. “When you’re part of a supportive community, you feel seen, encouraged, and reminded that you’re not alone in your journey.”
From community runs at Takashimaya to workshops and classes designed for all levels, lululemon’s collaboration with within is shifting the narrative around wellness. In fact, the collaboration is helping to change the perception that wellness is only for the flexible, fit, or high-functioning, and is more about creating a space where everyone feels welcome to begin, no matter where they’re starting from.
Wellness in Southeast Asia
Looking ahead, Betty sees the wellness space evolving into something more holistic, inclusive, and emotionally intelligent.
“I’d love to see more diversity in the wellness world—not just in age or body type, but in the ways people are invited in,” she says. “And I hope we continue to move away from the idea of perfection and towards practices that bring us joy, sustainability, and real growth.”
For lululemon and within, this new flagship is just the beginning.
A Full Circle Moment
For Betty, this project feels like a milestone years in the making. Her connection to the brand began over a decade ago in Vancouver, where she was first introduced to lululemon and was inspired by its values of mindfulness, movement, and community. Years later, she became one of the first ambassadors at the Takashimaya store, and now, a proud ambassador once again, but in a completely new way.
“lululemon has supported me throughout every chapter of my journey,” she shares. “This partnership isn’t just about retail or movement—it’s about alignment, purpose, and shared values. It reflects not only where I’ve been, but where I hope to go: continuing to build inclusive, mindful communities and spaces that empower personal transformation from the inside out.”
