Wedding bells are ringing once again for Taiwanese star Jay Chou, but it’s not what you think it is. According to the Taiwan Apple Daily, the Mandopop king, who first had a lavish wedding celebration in Yorkshire, England, invited guests to a circus-themed bonanza at the luxurious W Hotel Taipei on Feb 9.

The celebration was held for his 90-year-old maternal grandmother, who was not able to make the long flight to Britain to attend his church ceremony on January 17.

Jay, his wife Hannah Quinlivan, and their adorable pet Pomeranian, Machi, walked down the red carpet to performances by a percussion and jazz band, as well as to A Journey Diary About Love, his specially-composed wedding song that was first played in Selby Abbey.

Their outfits were considerably simpler as compared to their nuptials in England; the groom was in a royal blue suit accessorised with a bejewelled black bow tie while the bride showed off her comely figure in an off-shoulder drop waist gown with lace accents, and paired it with a floor-length veil. Her bridal accessories: Chaumet’s platinum diamond necklace with brilliant-cut and pear-shaped cut diamonds, as well as Frisson Dentelle de Givre platinum and diamond earrings. Their pet pooch wasn’t left out as he looked dapper in a suit.

Other details included a red-and-white striped tent done up to resemble a circus marquee, streamers, red-and-white pillars and a carousel, as well as the couple’s engagement photos that were taken during their European shoot before both weddings.

The 13-table outdoor dinner banquet served up delicacies including Buddha Jumps Over The Wall, lobster in vanilla sauce and glutinous rice with red crab. The five-tier wedding cake was a grand creation that rose from a castle with a magnificent topper of the couple.

Jay was said to have sang the duet Beyond A Thousand Miles with one of his guests, veteran singer Fei Yu-ching, a song they collaborated with on the former’s Still Fantasy album in 2006.

Guests included older stars such as Eric Tsang, Matilda Tao, Chang Fei, Chang Hsiao-yen and Jody Chiang, as well as the couple’s relatives. It is said that they will hold a separate party for friends of their own generation.
