In most articles we’ve read so far, one of the ways to introduce romance (and action) into your lives, is to whisk your significant other away on a luxurious staycation or trip. Rose petals, scented candles optional.

Going on a camping trip to get some, however, is something relatively new to us. According to the Daily Mail, a survey conducted by tent company OLPRO found that 90 per cent out of 500 couples (from ages 25 to 50) enjoyed having more sex after sleeping in a tent.

Before you write this off as yet another marketing gimmick, there is some sense to this: 45 per cent said that the spike was due to a lack of (or having fewer) distractions then, while 37 per cent said that they had fewer worries. More reason to switch your phones off during the weekend, perhaps. Another nine per cent attributed it to the “closer proximity” they have with their partners. That makes sense, too.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, psychologist Barbara Bishop said, “Getting out in the great outdoors allows us to leave many of life’s distractions and worries behind. It gives us the opportunity to reconnect with our partners and recharge our relationships in a very meaningful way. We rediscover our primal selves when we’re close to nature but there is also that added frisson of knowing just a thin layer of canvas shields us from the outside world.”

So here’s the thing. If you’re not a fan of sleeping outdoors, what you really have to do, is to spend a weekend fully unplugged, regardless of where you’re at. Now that’ll help your sex life (and your relationship) a lot better.
