If you’d like to be well on your way to be a glowing bride on your big day, here are 10 everyday habits to ditch and quick:
1. You pop pimples
While popping pimples the correct (and most sanitary way) is fine, the problem lies mainly with how you’re popping pimples the wrong way.
Many times, we pop pimples without washing our hands and we tend to squeeze with more force than required – damaging the skin’s surface and introducing more bacteria.
2. You spend too much time on your computer and phone screen
Computer and phone screens tend to emit UV light and can be bad for your skin’s collagen levels. One solution is to use a UV filter on your screens to stop the UV light from penetrating deep down into your skin’s surface.
3. You don’t reapply sunscreen
In Singapore, it’s hard not to perspire and blot your face whenever it starts getting oilier than usual. However, if there’s one thing you really should be doing after you’ve wiped your sweat away, it is to reapply sunscreen.
4. You eat too much sugar
Sugar has a terrible habit of breaking down and stiffening up the collagen on your face, causing skin to lose its lustre and bounce.
5. You don’t cleanse properly
These days, it’s not enough to do just a single cleanse after removing makeup. According to the Korean skincare regime, most women tend to do a double cleanse (some even triple!) to remove makeup residue and other environmental pollutants that could clog their pores.
6. You don’t rest enough
Not getting enough sleep often decreases the collagen production on your skin, which can help repair skin cells overnight.
7. You drink excessively
We all know that alcohol dehydrates your skin and body – which is why after a night of drinking, you’re always advised to drink plenty of water to and sober up.
Most of the time, your face tends to look swollen the next day and skin tends to feel drier too.
8. You don’t drink enough water
Your liver can do an amazing job of cleansing out the toxins in your body but it often needs the help of water to help it do its job even better. Water naturally pushes the toxins out of your body and gives you a radiant glow.
9. You smoke
It’s not surprising – the nicotine in cigarettes causes the narrowing of blood vessels which is why your skin tends to look sallower and less plump after smoking.
10. You tan excessively
If you enjoy spending a lot of time under the sun, you’re going to want to stop. A lot of the time, the UV rays from the sun can easily increase your risk of developing melanoma and break down the collagen produced by your body.
