Xing Ling Chua, 29, and Chun Yew Cheong, 33, held a Chinese banquet for family and friends. She tells us:

“We did the gatecrashing, tea ceremony and customary yum sengs at dinner time. It was tempting to consider holding an alfresco dinner, but it was important to respect our elders, and ensure they were comfortable as well.

Seeing our 300 guests having a good time and receiving their blessings was all we wanted. My dad also surprised guests with his rendition of Ave Maria (in Mandarin), as well as The Moon Represents My Heart by Teresa Teng. I grew up hearing my dad sing – and he is incredibly good – so it meant a lot to have him be part of our festivities.

Instead of just exchanging a few words and hugs, i wish I could have had more time with guests.
