The proposal was simple but sweet. Salleh popped the question in a room filled with flowers and balloons. Each balloon bore a picture illustrating a significant moment in the couple’s relationship. PHOTO: HER WORLD BRIDES JUNE 2015

Like many Arab weddings, the mood was festive. We had many relatives and friends celebrating with us. As this was the first wedding for both our families, there was an immense sense of shared love and joy.

We had the nikah and the bride and groom’s reception over three days. The Nikah was the most emotional and memorable moment for us as it was at the ceremony that we officially became husband and wife. The feeling was intense as we didn’t get to meet each other prior to the ceremony.

Sharifah looked regal in a champagne-coloured gown at the bride’s reception. For the groom’s reception, she wore a white ballgown with a long train. PHOTO: HER WORLD BRIDES JUNE 2015

The groom’s cake resembled a tower of books with titles that reflected the significant moments the couple will have on their new journey together. PHOTO: HER WORLD BRIDES JUNE 2015

We were seated on a dais at the receptions and seeing all our loved ones happy was a very special experience for us.
