So the cat’s out of the bag: Usher and long-time girlfriend Grace Miguel, who were rumoured to have tied the knot in Cuba in September 2015 (thanks to Grace’s Instagram post featuring the pair wearing their wedding bands in Havana), are confirmed to have gotten hitched officially there.

Usher only confirmed the news in December 2015, during his appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show. The The Voice coach and long-time partner Grace Miguel (the pair got engaged in January 2015 after having been together since 2009) also spent their honeymoon there.

In other interviews, Usher also shared the things he loved about his new wife, and his thoughts on his two marriages, as well as love.

1. Good support is key
In an interview to Billboard Magazine in October 2014, the singer gushed about his then-girlfriend, how she helped support him through the tough times: “I have an incredible partner and manager. She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career. She’s someone who’s been able to support and understand all of who I am. Not just as a dancer or as a performer or as a singer, but as a humanitarian and a business man and as a person.”

2. Learn to see the good things in life together
In the same interview, Usher revealed that she helps him appreciate the finer things: “One thing that has come from having a great partner like Grace is being able to cherish the places that I’ve gone. We see the monumental sites, go to the museums, eat in the best restaurants. I’m that guy now! In the past I’d do what I have to do and get on the bus to the next city. Life has become a vacation.”

3. Learn from one’s mistakes
On his first marriage to Tameka Foster which ended in a bitter divorce, he called it his “best mistake”. He told Oprah Winfrey’s O Magazine: “Most people probably think I regret it because I ended up getting divorced, but it helped me learn that sometimes I think I know more than I actually do.”
