Malaysian Prince Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra, 45, will be tying the knot to Swedish partner Sofie Louise Johansson, 33, on 19th April 2019. He is the brother of former King Sultan Muhammad V, who recently abdicated after less than three years on the throne.

News agency Bernama reported on Saturday that it will be a closed-door wedding ceremony held “on a moderate scale”, citing Kelantan Palace’s ceremonial chief Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean Tengku Feissal during a press conference held at the palace. “His Highness seeks the prayers of the people that his marriage will go smoothly and receive the blessings of Allah until Jannah [paradise],” he added.

Kelantan royalty and close friends of the Crown Prince will be in attendance. The wedding will kick off with the marriage solemnisation, followed by the royal couple sitting on the wedding dais and a royal banquet.

“Perhaps, after the wedding, His Highness will join events with the people to introduce his wife whom he has known for a long time,” Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean said.

Wedding gifts will also be channelled to Kelantan’s welfare organisations, including orphanages, old folks’ homes and non-governmental organisations like the Malaysian Red Crescent Society and Yayasan Orang Kurang Upaya, as ordered by Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra.

Prior to the official announcement, an image of the wedding invitation had gone viral on social media.
