Proposals don't always go exactly as planned, even when you're Orlando Bloom.
Singer Katy Perry just revealed her romantic but awkward Valentine's Day engagement on a Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance.
"It was very sweet. It was Valentine's Day... We went to dinner and I thought we were going to see some art after dinner but we pulled up to a helicopter," Perry recounts. "The funny part is we had champagne in the helicopter and the [ring] box was in his pocket and he had written down everything he wanted to say on a note."
While she read the note, she heard the champagne bottle break with it landing everywhere. Apparently, the actor ripped his coat while struggling to get the big ring box out of his coat pocket. His elbow had somehow also found itself in the champagne. Things got back on track, eventually, with Bloom popping the question with a beautiful flower-shaped ring featuring a ruby centre stone and diamond petals.
The helicopter landed on a building in Los Angeles where the newly engaged couple's family and friends were waiting. Thankfully for the actor, his now-fiance thought it was a beautiful proposal, gushing "“He did so well."
The pair began dating in 2016 after meeting at a Golden Globes party. "We bonded over an In-N-Out Burger about three years (ago) at the Golden Globes," the singer remembered. "He stole one off of my table - I was sitting with Denzel Washington, and he took it, and I was like, 'Wait - who? Oh, you're so hot. Fine, take it.'"
We certainly share Perry's sentiments.
