How did you meet?
"Alan was the older brother of one of my friends. The first time we met, we both felt that there was something special between us.
He was supposed to be permanently based in Sydney, but after texting for a month, he came to Singapore to be with me.
We moved in together after three weeks and got married eight months later."
How was your proposal like?
"The morning I proposed to Alan was just like any other – we were getting ready to leave for work.
At one point, however, I looked at him and thought to myself that I could look at him every morning, every day, and I would love every moment with him in it.
So I walked over and asked if he would like to marry me.
He was completely shocked, and he teared up. We had no ring or flowers, but it was complete happiness.
Later that evening, Alan came home with a bouquet and a ring. This time, he went down on one knee to ask for my hand, and it was my turn to cry. "
Share with us your wedding theme and celebration!
"While we had two large banquet-style celebrations in our hometown in Vietnam, our small celebration in Singapore felt the most personal to us.
We enjoy intimacy and cosiness, so our wedding was planned to be just like that. It was a dinner rather than a party, with just 33 of our closest family, friends and colleagues.
Alan and I both love autumn, so we wanted the colours of the season to be reflected in our wedding decor. Our friends helped out a lot with the set-up.
During the ceremony, we both felt so at ease, surrounded by our closest and dearest."
“The moment I saw my bridal bouquet from Liz Florals, I felt warmed and heartened. It had all the colours of autumn – even the ribbon was in my favourite shade of burgundy red.”
“There’s nothing I would change about the wedding, save having a bigger bite of our vegan buttercream wedding cake that was made by our good friend, Zenna Ho. It was so delish!”
Installations of greenery were positioned at selected parts of the venue to seamlessly form part of the wedding decor.
"I'll never forget the sight of Alan waiting for me at the end of the aisle, beaming at me when our eyes met."
The couple exchanged personal vows and gave their speeches.
The guests sat at long tables with a small space at the front for speeches and, of course, some dancing!
Any takeaway post-wedding?
"Recognise the things that are the most important to you and focus on them.
You may not have everything in perfect order on the actual day, but if you can have what’s important to you, well, you’re good!
We felt very fulfilled, and were grateful for everything and everyone."
