What’s in the size of a diamond ring? Plenty, apparently.

We came across this story on 22 December 2015, where a man in Chengdu, China, planned an elaborate proposal for his girlfriend with dancers, videographers, the works.

The best part? She was touched by the whole performance! Until she caught a glimpse of the rock… which didn’t match up to her expectations.

In an alleged phone conversation she had with her friend afterwards, she claimed the 1-carat ring wasn’t worthy of her. Say what?

Perhaps if she checked out much one of those sparklers are worth (see how much a 1-carat diamond ring might cost, here), she might have changed her mind.

The ring might not have looked big enough, but if it was a highly graded gem based on the 4Cs, which jewellers use to evalute each diamond, it can easily be worth $40,000!

So. Was it his loss? Not as much as hers, we think.

Grooms, all is not lost. See how you can find out what her dream ring is here, and see our ways on making your rock look bigger without spending too much on it!
