Yvonne Khoo, 24, and Luca Tedde, 29, had the tea ceremony and gatecrashing in the morning, and then an enchanted forest-themed banquet at PARKROYAL on Pickering.
Yvonne and I met at a friend’s dinner party in London. We hit it off really well and started dating and, eventually, holidaying together.
Meeting each other’s parents and seeing how everyone got along so well together confirmed that she was the one.
Seeing how our relationship was warmly accepted by both our families made it easier to think about the bigger question of marriage.
Our proposal happened while we were in Sardinia, Italy – Luca’s hometown – for his cousin’s wedding.
Luca suggested taking a ride out to Chia, a coastal village in southern Sardinia that was a couple of hours away.
It had a beautiful beach, and we were strolling along the shoreline when he suddenly bent down and asked me to marry him. It was so surreal.
Our wedding in Singapore was especially heart-warming for me as I had been living abroad and hadn’t seen everyone in a while.
The day was touching and bittersweet at the same time because it meant leaving home yet again, and starting life anew with Luca in London.
Luca’s family and friends flew in from Italy for the celebrations.
“I was so touched by the love I felt from family and friends,” says Yvonne.
For our banquet, we went with an enchanted forest theme.
Larry Wang and Jophia Chua of Flour, a local bespoke styling and dessert company, were an integral part of our wedding planning.
Picking people whose vision you trust and share means giving them the full rein instead of obsessing over every detail. They took away all the stress.
Their theme was inspired by the hotel’s architecture and design.
The bride wore gowns from Atelier Pronovias. “The gowns I chose ended up being very different from what I initially envisioned for myself,” says Yvonne.
