Those of you who have Grace Kelly and Duchess Kate as your bridal style icons might just want to add pop star Ellie Goulding to your list – we know we are!

The 32-year-old British singer who’s known for her love songs (like this one that’s perfect for your wedding) had her own fairy tale moment when she tied the knot to art dealer Caspar Jopling on Saturday, 31 Aug. The pair, who had dated since March 2017, shared news of their engagement in August 2018.

For the ceremony, she wore a long-sleeved high-necked Victorian-style gown that had her looking every part the classic princess bride and was the perfect look to match her venue, the historical York Minster Cathedral. Jopling, 27, was dapper in a bespoke morning suit by Huntsman.

Modest? Yes. Stuffy? Not at all. The elegant gown, which was designed by Natacha Ramsay-Levi of Chloe together with Goulding herself, came with a high neckline edged in delicate lace, padded shoulders and hand-embroidered White Roses of York motifs as well as white glass beads. The number of hours it took to bring the spectacular silk crepe confection to fruition: More than 640 hours.

The bride revealed her love for timeless bridal looks, citing Princess Anne, Bianca Jagger, Princess Grace of Monaco and Jane Seymour as sources of inspiration, aside from Victorian references. “I wanted to bring together modern and traditional elements,’ she told Vogue.

Her veil was embroidered with her and Jopling’s initials, E and C.

The singer arrived at the cathedral in a bright blue Volkswagen van dressed with flowers, with the blustery wind proving to be a challenge for Goulding and her bridesmaids.

Goulding kept it effortlessly simple for bridal beauty look, with her hair pulled back in a casual updo and soft, natural makeup that accentuated her features.

The bridemaids donned creations also by Natacha Ramsay-Levi. Her flower girls wore creations from French luxury childrenswear label Little Eglantine.

Wedding guests included royalty like Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as their mother, Sarah Ferguson of York and Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbank, and celebs like Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, Sienna Miller and James Blunt.

The couple’s reception reportedly took place at North Yorkshire’s lavish stately home Castle Howard. On Wednesday, there were photos shown with staff members setting up marquees, teepees, and a stage for the rumoured festival-themed celebrations.
