The couple who met at church camp and were good friends for three years before they got together, had their solemnisation and tea ceremonies, as well as dinner reception at Flower Field Hall in Gardens by the Bay.
“Two things that mattered most to us that day were enjoying quality time with our guests and providing good food, including Awfully Chocolate’s Hei ice cream,” says Shauna.

“Shuo Xian’s proposal took place in Australia and was most unexpected.
He designed a crossword puzzle and had arranged with the hotel staff to have me fill it up on the pretence that it would entitle guests to a discount. I didn’t think anything was amiss and was brought around to different stations in the hotel that led me to a pavilion on a small cliff overlooking the ocean.
Shuo Xian then handed me a bouquet of white peonies and a video with messages from my family.
As he popped the question, he presented me with this pathetic-looking green pendant to which I still said “yes”. To my relief, he burst out laughing and placed a stunning sapphire ring on my finger. I had been tricked!” shares Shauna.
“I had my friends from Dance Arts dance ahead of us during our entrance to the dinner venue,” shares the bride.
Shauna requested her bridal bouquet to be made of ferns and leaves, and just a few white roses. “The Bloom Room did a great job.”
At the altar.
They wrote their own vows.
“Two are better than one – this is actually a verse from the bible, and one that we will always live by.
During the celebration we shared this with everyone, and emphasised the important roles our friends and family will be playing in our marriage,” says the couple.
The bride wore a mermaid gown from Silhouette the Atlier.
The table decorations were done by MerryLove Weddings.
To appreciate the people who’ve been instrumental in their lives, the couple personalised mementos and made them part of the table decorations.
“To thank my dad for making me Milo every morning before driving me to work, we presented him with packets of Milo and a toy car in a glass bell jar at his table,” shares Shauna.
Having a good laugh as their close friends provided heartfelt song and speech dedications.
They also had a fun photo-taking session with their bridal party at Gardens by the Bay.
Shauna’s bridesmaids sported variations of dusty pink and mint green outfits.
“I felt so happy to be married to Shuo Xian in such a beautiful place, while being surrounded by our dearest firneds and families. It’s everything I could have asked for,” says the bride.
