“Mark and I met at the clinic of Singapore Management University, which we were both attending.
I was carrying an Arsenal F.C. backpack – his favourite club – and he used it to strike up a conversation with me.
As my wedding present to Mark, I wrote to the club manager, Arsene Wenger, and got a signed congratulatory letter from Wenger himself.
We were pretty easy-going on the details. For us, it was more important to focus on the marriage itself, as well as honouring both our parents and families.
We had a traditional Catholic church wedding, followed by lunch, a tea ceremony and dinner at Royal China in Raffles Hotel.”
“Our proposal happened in Venice. Mark wanted to do it at dusk on our first day there, but I was sick and that completely ruined his plans.
Instead, he got down on one knee the next morning while we were on a picturesque bridge over a tiny canal and I couldn’t imagine it any other way.”
Pink and cream sweetened the ambience of their wedding mass at Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Singapore.
“There wasn’t a defining moment when we knew each other was the one. Everything happened organically and we both entered into the relationship with marriage in mind.”
Sher Yan made all the bouquets. “I was delighted that peonies were in season and, in spite of current trends, I paired them with classic roses and ruscus.”
The chic, all-white dinner setting at Royal China was warmly accentuated with fairy lights and baby’s breath.
The bride’s tulle and organza gown was bought from Carousell.
“The best part was seeing my husband’s happy face, and knowing it would be like that for the rest of our lives.
Mark adds: “I was overjoyed. I couldn’t believe I was finally marrying the love of my life, and it was a dream come true.”
