Hong Kong star Leon Lai is set to become a father, confirming the news in a Facebook post after weeks of rumours swirling about his partner’s pregnancy.

In a post on Monday (March 19), Lai wrote:

“For two people who have been divorced, having a chance to be together takes a certain type of fate. Having a little life will make me a father, and take me to the next stage of life.

As a father, I’ll have to protect my family and not let them be exposed (to the media). I hope those of you who are parents feel the same way. As for our future, I’ll leave it to time to prove.”

Lai, 51, is one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Hong Kong – alongside Aaron Kwok, Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung.

Hong Kong media had recently run reports saying he was dating Wing Chan, who became his sales manager after serving as his assistant for his record label Amusic.

Chan, 32, is dubbed “Ah Wing” in Hong Kong tabloids and has been said to resemble Lai’s former wife, Gaile Lok.

Lok was married to Lai from 2008 to 2012.

Lai is the only Heavenly King who is currently single.

Kwok, 52, married Chinese model-actress Moka Fang last year, while Lau, 56, has been married to Malaysian Chinese Carol Chu since 2008. Cheung, 56, married Hong Kong actress May Lo in 1996.
