HOW DID YOU MEET?
We met at university, but only hung out on the last day of the semester during a class outing. The next day, we talked on the phone for hours and really connected. Greg asked me to be his girlfriend on New Year’s Eve a few months after, and it has been eight years since.
Greg coordinated the proposal so well that I did not suspect a thing! He booked a section of Prive at Keppel Bay and had my cousin lead me there on the pretext of dinner. When I got there, I saw Greg, and not far behind him were my family and close friends. There was a watercolour canvas -which he’d designed along with my sister-in-law – and it read: “Will you take on #athaliesadventures for life?” I was so overwhelmed and was speechless for a moment. I said yes, of course.
We wanted a light and cheery ambience for our church ceremony to reflect our personalities. The colours we eventually decided on were largely inspired by the emotions we felt a wedding should evoke – a pastel purple for a sweet pop of colour and cheer, and a light blue hue which provided a sense of calm and certainty.

We had a wedding dinner on the same day with 150 guests. We sought a venue which would provide a harmonious blend of chic grandeur befitting such a momentous occasion, great food, and the versatility to accommodate a sit-down dinner and an after-party. Sinfonia Ristorante proved to be perfect for our celebration. At the same time, we did not want the atmosphere to be too stuffy, so we hired a DJ to set the mood for the night, and ended it off with a fun time on the dance floor.

WEDDING PREP JOURNEY
Greg took care of the logistics and schedule while I focused on the design and decor, and between the two of us, we managed to pull it off. To stick to your budget, it is important to decide what is worth it and what you can do without.

Athalie’s bridesmaids held unique rose gold geometric frames with floral arrangements instead of bouquets, and these were later repurposed as centrepieces for the dinner celebration.

Photos of their pre-wedding shoot, including the ones they took at Mount Roy in Wanaka, New Zealand, were part of the decor.
The decor was planner by the talented bride.
“One of my most vivid memories was standing hand in hand, dwarfed by the arches of Victoria Concert Hall, right before our first march-in at dinner,” says Greg.
Guests sat at long tables topped with white tablecloths and lined with leafy garlands.
The couple kept their guests entertained with some wedding games.

Athalie chose a soft tulle A-line gown that she could move freely in for the after-party.

“It was a blessed feeling to know that we’d worked so hard for this day, and it was finally here,” says Athalie.
