When you're the daughter of India's richest tycoon, well, it also encompasses a private concert by none other than Queen Bey herself. India's (as well as Asia) richest tycoon, oil-and-telecom tycoon Mukesh Ambani, is set to give his daughter Isha away on 12 December 2019. She will be marrying billionaire industrialist Ajay Piramal's son, Anand.
As part of the pre-wedding festivities held in Udaipur, Beyonce was apparently engaged to perform some of her top hits. She'd also posted photos of herself on Instagram in Indian-inspired outfits.
Aside from Beyonce, other high profile guests include former American First Lady Hillary Clinton, as well as celebrities Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, who themselves just had lavish wedding celebrations in India. Indian stars like actor Shah Rukh Khan, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were also in the guest list. Guests in Udaipur were also able to access an app that held details to the wedding activities, including Beyonce's gig.
According to Bloomberg (via The Straits Times), the week-long extravaganza is estimated to cost a whopping US$100 million (S$137 million). In comparison, Prince Charles and Princess Diana's nuptials 37 years ago reportedly cost US$110 million in today's dollars.
A family representative also shared with Bloomberg News that the Ambanis organised a bazaar to showcase the work of local artisans, and donated enough food to the city of Udaipur to feed 5,100 people three meals a day for four days. The main ceremony is slated to be held at Mukesh Ambani's home, the 27-storey Antilia palace in Mumbai. Post-wedding festivities will be held in the city.
Isha Ambani's nuptials follow a slew of lavish Indian celebrity weddings including that of actress Priyanka Chopra and her American singer husband Nick Jonas, as well as Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.
