The couple’s fairytale-themed wedding was a dramatically grand affair, which saw stars such as Shu Qi, Lin Chi Ling, Ruby Lin, Vicky Zhao, Dee Hsu, Hong Kong director John Woo and co-founder of Huayi Brothers Wang Zhongjun, who both officiated the ceremony. The venue was transformed into a magical floral paradise, with over 600 guests in attendance.
Before the happy couple made their entrance during their reception, guests were greeted with a ballet sequence, with a dreamy fairy tale-like version of the wedding march, followed by a performance by a children’s choir who sang Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’. The wedding party then lined the aisle on both sides, while the couple walked out to cheers and applause. Xiao Ming also put up an electric performance as G-Dragon featuring the song ‘Fantastic Baby’, as that was his wife’s favourite K-pop singer. Too sweet!
The reception was hosted by Chinese hosts He Ling and Xie Na, while Taiwanese hosts Dee Hsu and Kevin Tsai of popular variety show Kangxi Lai Le, took over during the second part, and peppered the couple with personal yet humorous questions, which revealed several quirks and anecdotes.
The wedding surprise
Xiao Ming’s “wedding surprise”, paid homage to his bride’s keen interest in charity. He invited 527 disabled children from various charities to be a part of their reception, and announced his setting up of the couple’s foundation, Guan Ai Bao Bei (loosely translated to mean Caring for Baby). He also sponsored the children in his guests’ names, which was his gift to his new bride.
Chinese classical pianist Lee Yundi played a beautiful piece on the piano for the newly-weds, and actress Vicki Zhao along with their school mates of 1996 at the Beijing Film Academy offered their well-wishes and congratulations.
The wedding menu
Ever the perfectionist, Xiao Ming personally took on the task of hiring some of the country’s top chefs to come up with the couple’s wedding menu. Dishes included smoked fish (on the cold platter) Shanghai duck, smoked pork, and so on. Each dish was accompanied with an auspicious name, depicting wishes for the couple.
The wedding ring
In addition to Angelababy’s gorgeous 5-carat tear-drop shaped diamond, she added her new 7-carat diamond wedding ring, which was personally designed by Xiao Ming. Its name, Love Baby Embrace Princess’ Heart, aptly describes his affection and love for her.

The couple, who dated for six years before tying the knot, were moved to tears by each other’s vows: Xiao Ming told Angelababy in his touching speech, that he “has never loved any other woman like this before, and I just want to give you the world. Even when we’re old and wrinkled, you will still be my princess… I will continue to pamper you from here and onward, so your heart would be mine forever.” The doting groom added, that after marriage, his wife will call the shots, and he only had to listen to her wishes. (Ed: How sweet!)
As for her, she replied: “Through the good times and bad, I will always be there for you, build a family with you, which has always been my dream. I hope that one day in the future, when we’ve lived a long life together, you can say that you have found the right person to love and be happy with.”
The wedding outfits
As mentioned, Angelababy wore a dramatic and dreamy lace ballgown by Dior that had 100 handmade roses sewn on, and took five months to produce. The bride adorned her ensemble with a bridal tiara from Chaumet, which accompanied her floor-length veil. The couple changed into traditional Chinese outfits (a changpao for him and a figure-skimming peach cheongsam with embroidered details, side slits and train).
It is no secret that Xiao Ming would like to have children after marriage, although they said they’d let “nature take its course”. Well, when the press asked Mdm Huang, Xiao Ming’s mother, she said a grandson or granddaughter is fine, twins would be best!
