The vivacious couple wanted their wedding to be a big party filled with fun and laughter.

From the dessert table and invitations to the bouquet and boutonniere, everything was themed.

“We opted for a buffet lunch at the Raffles Hotel Singapore. Its classy colonial ambience was perfect for our Alice In Wonderland theme.

Elements like the bridal bouquet (see below), top hat and white rabbit added to the fun.

We adapted elements from the story for the occasion, like the blue of Alice’s dress for my wedding dress and the Mad Hatter’s tea party for our dessert buffet. In fact, everything was done to fit the theme – from the invites and hongbao tin to the ring holder, wedding favours and jewellery.

The clever bride fashioned her hongbao box out of an old biscuit tin. The wedding entourage’s corsages (above) were also handmade from coloured paper and playing cards.

A madcap affair: We didn’t have a traditional wedding – no cake cutting, toasts or table-to-table photography. Instead, guests mingled, helped  themselves to the buffet and candy stations as well as gave the photo booth a shot. And, although some stuff didn’t turn out as planned, it was okay because things are supposed to go mad or wrong in Wonderland anyway.

Spot the couple amongst the mushrooms!

“I was overwhelmed when I saw the guests and my smiling hubby waiting for me at the bottom of the aisle,” says Nicolette.

The entire day was memorable, from the gatecrashing to the goodbyes. And I loved that our guests enjoyed the surprise flash mob performance. It added to the party mood. I loved it all!

Party tips: Always have options but be happy with your final choices. We made a lot of props ourselves, and sought help from friends and family. I believe a wedding is most memorable when loved ones are involved.”
