“Our solemnisation took place at the sky lounge of our new home. The weather was perfect, and it meant a lot to us to be married in the place where we will begin our journey as husband and wife.

I was actually nervous before the march-in – I was hoping I wouldn’t trip on the red carpet! Otherwise, the mood was pretty relaxed and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

There were many personal touches: I did most of the decorations, invitations and wedding programmes, with some help from my family and close friends. I loved that it all looked elegant and posh without costing too much, and I was particularly proud that I did it all without the help of a wedding planner!

Our tips: We saved a lot by going DIY, but we also saved on other issues like booking the venue over a year in advance, getting the flowers and the wine from wholesalers, and the cupcakes with a Groupon offer!”
