Fight frizz
If you have long unruly hair, I’d advise seeing a good hairstylist for a cut that manages flyaway hair. Layering should be kept minimal or stick to blunt classic cuts. Brides can also consider a keratin smoothing treatment but avoid straightening as this can lead to limp locks. To save time and cost, work out a treatment regime at home. I personally find the Fluidealiste range from Keratase great for fighting frizz.

For fine or thin hair
Avoid clean and sleek looks, as this further emphasises thin hair. Instead, try working with textured, scrunched, teased or braided hairstyles. Not only are they modern and stylish, they also provide volume.

Coloured hair
Ideally, brides should get their hair coloured, be it a touch up or highlights, at least two weeks before the wedding. The colour is fresh, vibrant and settled in by the big day. Get a good shampoo and conditioner (for coloured hair) and avoid swimming, the sun and the sea.

Work with your hairstylist
Plan your exact looks with your stylist ahead of the big day, and bring all your hair accessories or veil to the trial. This allows more time to make any changes. Arrange for trials until you find the hairdresser who suits you and understands your needs. He or she should be able to guide you on what’s suitable and what’s not.
