TAIPEI – Malaysian singer Penny Tai’s wedding had an uninvited guest – rain.

Luckily, Tai and her bridegroom, Taipei gallery owner Sidney Lu, had a tent set up outdoors at Taipei’s Songshan Cultural and Creative Park for their 300 guests including fellow Malaysians, singer Fish Leong and actress Lee Sinje.

It was a modern wedding last Saturday with a band entertaining and guests seated at rows of tables.

She wore an Ersa Atelier lacey wedding gown followed by a Yolan Cris pant suit.

“According to custom, we’re not supposed to sleep together yesterday, but last night, we were together. We’ve been stuck to each other for six years,” Tai said on ditching tradition with Lu, her live-in mate.

She was given away by her father and music producer Eric Chen while her pet dog was the witness.

For the wedding, Lu had cut off the long hair he kept for 20 years, so that there would be no mistaking who the bride and bridgegroom would be, Tai, 36, revealed earlier.

Last month, she announced their registry marriage in August in Taipei.

Tai had said she met Lu, 41, at the lowest point in her life when she was was suffering from a nervous disorder. They hit it off and started dating two weeks later.

She was previously linked to actor Jaycee Chan.
