How did you meet?

We met at my friend’s birthday party in 2007 and started dating shortly afterwards. We’re both very easy-going, adventurous and love to travel so we moved from Sydney to Singapore two years ago and found that we really love it here.

What was your proposal like?

Calvin proposed to me at the rooftop garden in our condo complex, which he’d transformed into a sort of enchanted garden. The whole area was filled with rose petals, candles, white roses in vases and fairy lights. There was even a guitarist who started singing as soon as I got there.

It was so beautiful. I was extremely surprised and happy because Calvin isn’t usually a romantic  guy!

Share with us your wedding theme and celebration!

Because we had a destination wedding, we decided to have a travel theme. We wanted to celebrate the many years Calvin and I have been together, and also to the many destinations we’ve both travelled to together.

Our wedding invites were mock Australian passports with boarding passes, and each guest received a black personalised luggage tag as a wedding favour. As people walked into our wedding venue there was a long winding path full of trees and dangling on each tree were photos of our travels together. The trees were filled with fairy lights and led the guests to our ceremony area.

We wanted our guests to feel like they were also on vacation, so to achieve a celebratory holiday feel, we had an elegant rustic setting setting.

Khayangan Estate also has a gorgeous cliff top view of the ocean and a serene and relaxing vibe. (Also read: Marry like a celeb! 6 luxurious Bali resorts these Asian stars wed at)

We welcomed our guests with coconuts and cocktails, and a string quartet playing softly in the background. During cocktails and canapes, we had an amazing live acoustic band. We knew our friends liked to party so we had a DJ set up for the after-party and loads of alcohol.

The best part of the celebration was having so many of our loved ones travel to celebrate with us. Since our move to Singapore, we haven’t been able to everyone as much as we used to, so this was extra special.

“During our vows, Calvin had everyone laughing when he referred to me as ‘the chilli in his soya sauce.’ He really loves his chilli!”
