If you planning for your new home and believe in feng shui, then take note of these important areas when it comes to designing and furnishing your marital home!
Feng shui consultant Wilfred Leu, who has more than 13 years of experience in the industry, walks us through the important areas of the home that you should pay attention to as a married couple.
The kitchen
One of the most important areas of the home, the kitchen provides food and nutrition to all of the inhabitants of the home, so its essential that the kitchen or stove is in the right place to ensure that the ‘Qi’ energy is correct.
Consult a feng shui expert to determine the right area for the kitchen.
If your kitchen space has already been determined, as it is with most HDB flats and condominiums, then it would be best to see where the stove and sink should be located.
- The stove
When cooking, your back should not be facing the kitchen entrance so it is best to place the stove in the right position.
As one of the main appliance of the kitchen, it generates fire energy through the burners, and creates chi that generates prosperity.
Having it in the ideal place will bring you health, wealth and happiness.
- The sink
For the sink, it is advisable to have it higher than your stove as ‘water’ from the sink controls the ‘fire’ from the stove. Based on the I Ching, this is auspicious for the home.
The bedroom
The room for rest and intimacy, the bedroom is probably one of the most important room in a new house.
Consult a feng shui expert on the right location to place the bed, and ensure it is at the right angle of alignment to the bedroom door.
Even where you sleep on the bed is important! Since you spend at least six hours in bed every day, your bed has an intimate connection to your personal energy, and has an impact on your well-being.
An expert can help you find out which is the best side of the bed for you to sleep on, based on your birth details.
Another important note: If you are planning to start a family, getting a good date to set the bed in your bedroom when you first move in is important.
- The right ambience
Setting the right ambience for your room is important as it is conducive to good rest and intimacy.
This means the colour and lighting of your room matters. An expert will help determine the best colours and lighting for good rest and harmony.
Choosing the right photos and paintings will help you rest well and enjoy couple’s harmony too. Putting the wrong ones up can actually be detrimental.
