Things began on a high note as Adele kicked off her Adele Live 2016 tour in Belfast, North Ireland, on Feb 29, 2016.

In the spirit of celebrating the leap year, the British singer invited a fan onstage, after asking if any woman in the audience wanted to pop the question to her boyfriend.

The lucky fan, Hayley Consuegra, then revealed that she’d proposed to her boyfriend, Neil Pringle, earlier, and he’d said “maybe”. The bubbly star, who wasn’t having any of it, told the man he had to “say a proper yes, bruv. You have to say yes”.

No prizes for guessing what he said afterwards.

The couple had been going out for 10 years (they first met in Spain in 2005), and was discussing engagement plans during a meal just before attending the concert. Consuegra later tweeted to Adele, thanking her for her help. “You wrote the words to our story. I had the courage stood next to you (sic). Thank you for being part of our memories,” she said.
