3. Tai Chong Kok
Known for its traditional mooncakes, nian gao, egg tarts and pastries, the store, located in Chinatown’s Sago Street usually sees large crowds during traditional Chinese festivals such as the Mid-Autumn Festival. The store also offers an array of baked goods for auspicious occasions including longevity noodles and peaches, classic Cantonese confections, and pastries for the guo da li.

4. Gin Thye Cake Maker
Aside from an astounding array of pastries, from traditional walnut and butter cakes to sponge cakes and xi bing, the cake maker even offers the following services for couples who are unsure of what to do during the traditional ceremonies. These include: the guo da li betrothal ceremony, hui li (returning of the gifts), bed setting ceremony, and more. With over 80 years in the business, you can be rest assured that the bakers at Neo Kian Guan know what they’re doing. According to its site, all the confectioner’s products are hand crafted and contain no artificial preservatives or flavourings. 7. Flavour Favours
For wedding favours with a touch of tradition and nostalgia, turn to Flavour Favours. Its offerings, which come from Tan Hock Seng (a traditional Hokkien cake shop that has been around since the 1930s), include snacks like Yun Pian Gao, peanut brittle, assorted candies as well as bean paste pastries that wil delight both adults and kids.
