For a laid-back honeymoon or a beautiful wedding in the tropics, the idyllic Bintan Lagoon Resort is sheer perfection. Here are 6 reasons why!
Like many classic beach destinations, Bintan Lagoon Resort features a pristine private beach, spacious villas and breathtaking sea views. It also has its own ferry terminal, so the transition from Singapore to the island resort was quick and comfortable.

The Her World Brides team enjoyed a warm welcome from the resort’s traditional dance and music troupe before we were shown to our lodgings: an Angsoka villa, which oozed colonial charm and sat right on the beach, where the cool sea breeze was a constant. A private pool and personal buggy were some of the other luxurious touches that came with our double-storeyed four-bedroom abode. Other accommodation options range from spacious deluxe rooms with private balconies to luxurious suites with four-poster beds and sun decks.

My favourite part of each day was waking up at dawn to stroll along the shoreline that was just steps away from our villa. The rising sun and glittering waters bathed in golden light was breathtaking and calming.

Come mealtime, we were not left wanting either. From the beachfront bar and seafood restaurant Nelayan to the laid-back Fiesta with its sumptuous buffet fare and views of the ocean, almost every dining outfit had its specialities and spectacular scenery.
The team split up to satisfy cravings for Japanese or Korean cuisine at Miyako, hearty Mexican and American bites at The Terrace Sports Bar for, as well as cake and pastry cravings at Mojo Cafe.

Of course, the team and I were also there to produce the beautiful spread in this issue. And that included recceing great spots to feature, like the picturesque Jack Nicklaus Sea View Hole 12 on the golf course. Designed by Nicklaus himself, widely regarded as the greatest golfer of all time, it is one of the most popular spots for wedding ceremonies and private dining. The beach is another winner for beautiful seaside love connections, with flowers provided by the resort’s wedding team that also ensures guests are treated to a fabulous display of fireworks. If you would rather have an indoor reception, there’s the resort’s column-free banquet hall which can hold up to 1,300 guests, as well as the double-storeyed Nelayan, which has both indoor and outdoor spaces.

After your wedding and a good lie-in, indulge yourself. Apart from a pampering session at the Kedaton Spa or teeing off on the golf course, adventurous couples can explore the grounds on all-terrain vehicles and Ninebots (electric two-wheelers). Or hop on a jet ski, banana boat or pedal boat for two.
Beyond the resort, there are tours for mountain trekking, exploring mangrove forests, visiting heritage centres and floating down the Sebung River after dark.
The newly revamped Silk Nightclub is fabulous for partying through the night, too.
