1. Apply makeup facing an auspicious direction
It is advised to always sit facing one of your four auspicious directions – Fu Wei (personal growth), Sheng Chi (wealth), Tien Yi (health), or Nien Yen (love). To find these, first find your kua number. Then, check a kua chart.
You should apply makeup facing the compass direction that matches up with the energy you want to attract – personal growth, wealth, health, or love.

2. Proportionate lips
It is ideal for your make-up to create facial balance for a “lucky” face. The lips are an important facial feature and should not be made abnormally large (if you’re trying the Kylie Jenner challenge where you suck shot glasses to obtain bee stung-looking lips, stop). Collagen-injected lips, especially, are inauspicious and should be avoided.
The lips should be full but also balanced and proportionate with your other facial features. Follow these tips to help you create the ideal pout:
– Use lip liners in hues lighter than the main lip colour in the inner corners to create the illusion of fullness
– Define the outline of your lips with a darker lip liner colour
– Blend the liner(s) with your lipstick for a smooth colour transition, creating a natural look

3. Thick brows
Bigger, fuller brows, not only help one look younger, it also helps add intensity to your look. Your brows, long considered the curtains to your soul, are viewed as protectors by feng shui principles, to protect you from being emotionally or physically hurt as well as from being scammed. It is considered inauspicious to pluck, shape, and shave your eyebrows to draw and create faux eyebrows.
However, if you wish to neaten your brows, here are some guidelines to take into consideration:
– Eyebrows darker than hair is auspicious
– We know the Korean-styled eyebrows trend are picking up, but never leave your eyebrows straight! Shape them into a slight arch
– Your eyebrows should be thicker inside and gradually become thinner to the outer tip
– Bushy eyebrows are considered auspicious, so flaunt your inner Cara Delevingne!

4. Light eye makeup
The use of heavy black eyeliner and mascara are considered inauspicious makeup in feng shui. Feng shui principles advise using both sparingly.
Instead of using black mascara, try medium brown (or even soft gray or medium blue). Don’t weigh down your eyelids with heavy mascara; this is very inauspicious! Just a flick of mascara, and you’ll attract positive energy into your life.

5. Glowing cheeks
Cheeks are another facial feature considered to be good fortune indicators in feng shui. Auspicious cheeks should be radiant and glowing; so tinge them with pink and use highlighter for a healthy glow. Experiment with various blush shades to determine which suits your skin tone best!
As with all things feng shui, balance is key. You would want to blend the cheek colour into the foundation so it appears natural.
Cheek blemishes – whether they are acne, moles, or scars – are considered to represent obstacles or challenges that need to be overcome. Here, concealer is your best friend, if you’re not willing to take the big step of getting them (if any) surgically removed.
