The whole idea of stacking  rings  is to create different personalities and 'looks' for your single  engagement  ring  - you can add different colour, textures or more diamonds and bling to create different styles and effects.

A golden rule before you load up on the  rings: avoid stacking your solitaire  engagement  ring  with another solitaire  ring  - it would divert attention from the 'star'  ring  and perhaps even clash with your  engagement  ring.

See the tips on how to stack your  ring in the gallery.

If you love bling...

Your diamond solitaire ring would look more brilliant with another ring embedded with diamonds all round - it could be a ring with pave diamonds or just a thin circlet of sparkling stones.

To enhance the shine, add on other bands of the same metal so that the overall effect looks like a thicker ring studded with dazzling stones.

Add variety to your engagement ring with other bands of different textures and materials.  Don't be afraid to mix precious metal with sterling silver or even steel. Opt for rings with different finishes (like tarnished or oxidised silver) and even with engravings and etched out designs on the band.

Add non-traditional rings (read: none of those typical circle/ band designs) to break the monotony of stacked circles. We particularly love Tiffany & Co's Tiffany Bow styles which are pretty and helps to also break the "thick" ring illusion of stacked rings. You can also get rings with initials or in wavy styles that add interest to the overall effect.

If you love colour...

4/4

Add rings with different coloured gemstones like sapphires, rubies and even yellow diamonds (if you can afford it). Other more affordable options include coloured crystals and and semi-precious stones like turquoise, rose quartz and onyx. Just make sure your other stones are not solitaires so they will complement your diamond solitaire.
