1. Create an inventory

1/10

A good walk-in wardrobe should be inviting and cosy, with lots of storage solutions and flexible design to cater to evolving needs. Make a general list of all your clothes and accessories to make sure you create space for every item. Everything from bags to shoes, long dresses to jackets.

2. Know your habits

2/10

Create a walk-in wardrobe that fits your organisational rules. This is important when you are planning the layout of the space. You might want larger shelf space for your denim jeans or maybe you'd prefer for your bags to be displayed in clear view rather than tucked away in the corner.

3. Install a full-length mirror

3/10

Effective distribution of storage compartments and mirrors help to give the illusion of a larger space. Consider where to place a full-length mirror, leaving enough space for you to step back for a good view of your outfit.

4. Decorate creatively with a fabric mannequin

4/10

A fabric mannequin adds a soft and creative touch while serving as a useful hanger where you can drape items like scarves, jewellery and bags.

5. Infuse it with personal style and soft furnishings

5/10

If you have the space for them, a dressing table and open display cabinet for jewellery and accessories will add a sense personal style and glamour. Or simply imbue the place with soft, stylish touches by adding a pretty rug or a chandelier!

6. Lighting is key

6/10

Direct sunlight will cause clothing to fade, so use track lighting instead. Ensure that they are positioned between you and the items, instead of behind or directly on them to reduce shadows.

7. Design a mix of open shelves and pull-out cabinets

7/10

Don't hide your clothes behind doors. Having a clear view of your wardrobe allows you to visualise and decide which outfit to wear. Place your accessories in glass cabinets to keep them free from dust. If you have too much to store, design sleek pull-out cabinets where you can hide clutter and still have sufficient space for an extensive collection.

8. See through drawers

8/10

These will make searching for a specific item much easier while keeping your wardrobe neat.

9. Get hooked

9/10

Install hooks to hang your items as an added convenience and space saver for items you wear frequently or bags with long slings.

10. Use identical hangers

10/10

Reduce visual clutter by using only one kind of clothes hangers. It's an especially useful tip for small spaces that can look messy quickly.
