Brides with sensitive, oily skin, I feel you. And if it’s one day that you want clear, glowing skin without any angry patches, breakouts and conjested pores, it’s your wedding day. And IDS Aesthetics has come up with a new facial treatment that targets exactly that – the Cryo Therapeutics Treatment. Using a combination of Cryotheraphy Technology (which employs an extremely low temperature of up to -15 degree celcius) and serum infusion, it promises to firm and tone the skin, plus targets dullness and clogged pores.
What is Cryotherapy?
Also known as cold therapy, it’s the local or general use of low temperatures in medical therapy. According to IDS, the cold temperature aids in boosting the oxygen and nutrient supply to the skin’s surface, thereby stimulating the collagen and elastin production.
The treatment starts with a double cleansing, first with a cooling cleansing milk, then a refreshing cleanser. After this a hydro microdermabrasion machine (which is crystal-free and reportedly better for people with very sensitive skin as compared to microdermabrasion) exfoliates and gets rid of surface gunk. It also uses a multi-mineral solution.

Then comes the extraction.
Extractions and I are not friends. I have a low threshold for pain and paired with sensitive skin, it makes for a good 10 – 15 minutes of wincing and flinching. I’ve been avoiding facials since my first few treatments at 19 years old, which has led to seriously congested pores on my face.
Was the extraction experience at IDS Aesthetics painful? Yes. But what surprised me was that I did not break out. During previous facial treatments, though I emerged from the spa with smooth skin, I would be plagued with acne for the next couple of days after. The pain coupled with post-facial zits left me scarred (no, not literally) and unwilling to go back for more. By the way, this shouldn’t be happening – a skilled professional will be familiar with the specific methods of extraction so you won’t be left with inflamed, breakouts or even (gasp!) scarring.

Next was the fun part – serum infusions. Vitamins and brighteners are applied to the skin, then gently massaged. That’s followed by a mask; there are three to choose from. I was given one for acne-prone skin but there’s also one for hydrating and for brightening. It’s gently rolled on with the Cryoprobe to further deliver the goodness of the mask into your skin. It’s cold but bearable and subsequently, comfortable.
My skin felt bouncy and hydrated after the treatment. There was definite redness right after, but in the next few days, my complexion was noticeably clearer.

But of course, it’s not a one-time lifesaver. It’s recommended that you start at least 8 months before, and to do it once a month so you’ll be all glowing and fresh-faced for your special day.
