There’s nothing quite like a romantic tune to set the mood for when you’re planning to get down on one bent knee. Plus, you’ll be thinking of that one special moment whenever you hear them afterwards.

As a general guide, choose something lighthearted or soft and romantic for your “Marry Me” moment. Or by all means, go for something fun or silly, if that’s yours and your special other’s jam.

From classics to more trendy tunes, these are the songs to add to your playlist for when you’re intending to pop the question, for your engagement video (get your camera on standby!), or even to sing it to your loved one yourself!

#1 Marry You – Bruno Mars

We get it. This has got to be one of the most over-played wedding/proposal/love songs ever but can you really fault it? With romantic lyrics that aren’t saccharine and a catchy tune, it’s set to charm.

#2 Just The Way You Are – Bruno Mars

Is your girl amazing? Tell her how much she means to you with this song.

As Mars himself puts it, “And to me ‘Just The Way You Are’ is one of those songs (that comes directly from the heart. There’s nothing mind-blowing about it. I’m just telling a woman she looks beautiful the way she IS – and, let’s be honest, what woman doesn’t wanna hear those lyrics?!”

#3 Fallin’ All In You – Shawn Mendes

The first time we heard this infectious tune, we couldn’t quite get it out of our head. Plus, it includes the sweetest lyrics too:

Be my summer in a winter day love/ I can’t see one thing wrong/ Between the both of us/ Be mine, be mine, yeah/ Anytime, anytime

#4 Make You Feel My Love – Adele

With emotional lyrics by Bob Dylan and paired with Adele’s soulful voice, this definitely turns up the romance.

#5 Beautiful in White – Westlife

She might not be your wife yet, but you can always hint at how ‘beautiful in white’ she’ll look.

#6 Every Woman In The World – Air Supply

You don’t need any other woman except for the love of your life, and Australian soft rock duo Air Supply’s oldie from 1980 puts it across so succinctly.

#7 Marry Me – Train

Another song that probably needs no introduction when it comes to wedding and engagement songs, it pretty much sums up your proposal message with lyrics like “You wear white and I’ll wear out the words I love you/ And you’re beautiful/ Now that the wait is over/ And love and has finally shown her my way/ Marry me/ Today and every day”.

You’ll still have to do the actual asking though – sorry.

#8 Marry Me- Jason Derulo

Same title, different vibe. Jason Derulo’s swoon-worthy lines include:

A hundred and five is the number that comes to my head/ When I think of all the years I wanna be with you/ Wake up every morning with you in my bed/ That’s precisely what I plan to do

#9 Love Someone- Lukas Graham

The Danish band’s band’s lead singer Lukas Forchhammer starts the song by telling the world how he sometimes finds it so hard to believe that that special woman in his life is his.
If that echos your exact sentiments, then you’ll want put this emotional love ballad on your playlist.

#10 “I do” – Colbie Caillat

With a sunny upbeat tempo, it’s the perfect song to calm your nerves. And of course, here’s fingers crossed she’d take her cue from Colbie Caillat and say “I do”, too

#11 Could I Love You Any More – Reneé Dominique ft. Jason Mraz

Filipino singer-songwriter Renee Dominique and Jason Mraz collaborate in a sweet accoustic duet about “a man and a woman realizing the magic of love,” with the pair’s soothing vocals harmonising perfectly.

Fun fact: Singapore’s Haji Lane sets the backdrop for the music video!

#12 “Let Me ” – Zayn Malik

The song may be less than wholesome (it’s Zayn Malik, after all) but hey, it holds the promise of commitment, including lines like “Baby, let me be your man/ So I can love you (I can love you)/ And if you let me be your man/ Then I’ll take care of you, you.”
